Yugioh Weekly Tournament Winner Deck Profile

Yugioh Weekly Tournament Winner Deck Profile

By: Dylan Ashcraft

Attention Yugioh players! As you may or may not know, the Uncanny! King of Prussia location hosts a local Yugioh tournament every Tuesday where several players duel each other for the chance to win prizes (such as free entries and packs).
This week’s winner is Eric Denczi who played a Zoodiac deck with the Predaplant and Brilliant Fusion engines. This tournament of course is following the June 12th banlist where we saw the limiting of Speedroid Terrortop as well as the banning of Elder Entity Norden, which caused Eric to have to spice up his Zoodiac deck.

Now I was able to interview Eric a little about his experience at the tournament on Tuesday.

  1. Q) Who did you play against in the tournament and what did they play? A) Round 1 I played against Joe Ceely playing Dinomist. Round 2 against Kyle Allebach playing Spyral and then in the third round I was against Brad Denczi playing True Draco Metalfoe Kozmo

  1. Q) What was your record?
  • I went undefeated, 3-0-0
  •
    1. Q) What was your most competitive match up?

  • My most competitive matchup probably would have been The Draco metalfoe kozmo but Game 1 my 6th card was the Dogoran to tribute over Master Peace and then game two the only monster he drew was Psyframe Gamma and I never got the chance to activate a monster Effect. As far as actual gameplay, Spyral was my most competitive. Not having much of a side for a somewhat rogue strategy and then him being able to establish a board of a Spyral Sleeper equipped with Spyral Last Resort as well as a second Sleeper was a struggle to play around.
  •
    1. Q) Final question, how come you chose to play the deck you played?

  • Why I play this deck is a bit of a mix between budget and competition. Zoo is in no way a cheap deck but it's a lot cheaper than paying $80-$90 each for 3 Dragonic Diagrams. The Kaijus are included because of the Draco matchup. I play 3 Kaiju and then side into a fourth just to see them more and get over Master Peace.
  • You also have the reactive play of Ash Blossom and even Zoodiac Drident which can potentially stop a Diagram and your opponent's play in its tracks.
Lastly is the fact that you can open up almost like you did with Norden available. If you have a way to get Ratpier to normal summon and a Tensu you can draw 3 more cards with Coach King Giantrainer and possible do 2400 damage on your opening turn.

And that concludes the interview with this week’s Uncanny! Yugioh winner, Eric Denczi. Do you think you can knock Eric off the totem pole, well then swing by next Tuesday to compete in Uncanny! King of Prussia’s weekly tournament and possibly be featured on our website!
