Marvel Tidbits w/ Dustin

Marvel Tidbits w/ Dustin
By Dustin M. Best
Welcome to another addition of the Uncanny! renowned Marvel Tidbits w/ Dustin, where I take you on a journey finding the latest and greatest Marvel news. Like a pool on a hot July day, let's dive on in...

Marvel Sized Whale...

nova quasar marvel

Besides its' notorious heat, July also means big time, show stealing Marvel news coming out of San Diego Comic Con. In a recent announcement, Marvel stated that their panel on Saturday, July 22nd at SDCC will be a whopping 90 minutes.

With no news or release dates for Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks after the untitled Avengers 4 in May of 2019, I think it's safe to assume we can anticipate some sort of developments or teasers regarding a potential Phase 4.

What we do know so far regarding future MCU movies is that Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will happen (yet to have a release date) and I seriously doubt Black Panther and Captain Marvel will be one offs. With a slew of the "original" Avengers contracts set to expire (Downey, Evans, Cheadle), it makes sense for Marvel to continue to establish new formats for the cinematic universe. Whether that means another team of Avengers or not, we will have to wait and see.

Let's just hope the Human Torch gets that bank loan and the Fantastic Four can make their way over to Marvel from Fox so we can have an expanded MCU with even more phasier phases. Cosmic Phase. Avengers Phase. Dark Knights Phase. Milk Phase. You get where I'm going with this.

Oh, and Nova and Quasar, please.

China + Marvel

marvel news

Marvel and Chinese company, NetEase, have partnered up to create their first Chinese super hero, according to Efe news. Marvel will also distribute 12 comics on their digital platform services through NetEase in China. Titles include the "The Amazing Spider-Man", "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America"...and I doubt it's Hydra Steve Cap.

What type of powers will this new hero have? When will he be introduced? In what title? What are your thoughts?

Comic of the Week

danny rand iron fist

Holy glory of K'un-Lun! With that out of the way, Iron Fist #5 just wrapped up the first story arch of how Danny Rand got his groove back. And by groove, I mean Chi. I really thought it'd be tough to take on an Iron Fist title after reading the masterful Kaare Andrews run on "The Living Weapon" but, wow! If you are into old school kung fu mastery, you better check out the new Iron Fist!

The flow of the fighting scenes makes for very smooth storytelling, I especially love how each fighting move is named throughout the 5 issues. Danny shows that he still has what it takes to be the Iron Fist, even if the battle takes him against opponents from his past!

Iron Fist #6 drops August 2nd with a brand new arch featuring the Master of Kung-Fu himself, Shang Chi! Hey, maybe Shang Chi introduces us to the new Chinese super hero?!

Song of the Week

How can you not get hype, stay hype with Carl Douglas as you've concluded digesting your tidbits? Plop this track on Star Lord's Volume 3 mixtape and give me a Danny/Peter team-up!

That's it for this past week in Marvel news, until next time...keep it light!
